Chad,
Blessing is a Biology Ph.D. student who chose to stay in North Dakota, as she puts it, “because of the people.” One of those people is her mentor, Dr. Diane Darland, Chester Fritz Distinguished Professor of Biology.
A few years ago, unexpected medical challenges made it nearly impossible for Blessing to continue her studies and teach labs. With encouragement from Diane, she applied for Angel Fund support.
Today, Blessing is able to continue her doctoral program and give back to others in the UND community as a mentor and graduate teaching assistant.
Since we launched the UND Angel Fund six years ago, over $668,200 has been distributed to support 948 students when they’ve needed it most.
During the 2025-26 academic year alone, you’ve helped fund 40 grants, totaling nearly $29,300.
As an Angel Fund donor, you are part of a group that shows up when it matters most, not just for Blessing, but for so many students facing unexpected challenges.
Thank you for being there when students need it most.
Gratefully yours,
Cassie Gerhardt, Ph.D.
Sr. Associate Vice President for Student Affairs
